This is a short note to inform you that p@rdus will restructure and clean up the overlay during the coming week. In your own interest you should refrain from syncing the overlay.

The intention of the changes is to generate three "Kolab on Gentoo" tracks with different stability:

  • stable
  • unstable
  • development

This change is meant to improve the server management for people running the project in production. Please note though that p@rdus is still not encouraging this. A really "stable" version of Kolab on Gentoo won't be reached until after Kolab-2.1.1 has been released.

Once completed the installation instructions will be modified to reflect the new structure. At the same time part of the documentation will be transferred from our wiki to the official Kolab Wiki.

Please bear with us during the changes. We will try to avoid breakage as much as possible.

Cheers,

Gunnar

The restructuring of the overlay has been finished.

After you synced your overlay you should then decide which "branch" you wish to install.

These branches are just a suggestion. You can certainly choose which ebuilds you accept in a stable or unstable version. But there might be some package versions that won't work together very well.

For each of the branches listed and the associated configuration (use flags, keyword selection and masking) p@rdus has a dedicated machine that runs exactly this configuration. These machines will be monitored for any problems caused by development or package updates in the portage tree.

Cheers,

Gunnar
