When emerging kolab I got the following error in cyrus-imcyrus-imapd (see also Bug 201146 on bugs.gentoo.org):

/var/tmp/portage/cyrus-imapd-2.3.9-r20/temp/autoconf-3275.out:

configure.in:110: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_DEFINE
If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.

I am running a amd64 machine with hardened gentoo.
I unmasked
 net-mail/cyrus-imapd
 net-mail/cyrus-imap-admin
for the amd64 arch but maybe there is the problem. Anyone build successfully on amd64?

I'll comment on the bug then.

Hi there,

I made emerge --sync and emerge portage  plus layman -S and everything is compiling.
Maybe it will help someone.

I made an update to bugzilla after manually fixing the ebuild.

This fix solved my problem. It could work for others without this
fix because my architecture (amd64) behaves differently. I read
of many problems with 64bit machines. I also wasn't able to
compile the OpenPKG releases, but now I can go further with
Gentoo/Kolab.

After fixing it the way I wrote before I tried your suggestion and it worked too. "emerge portage" was the one thing I missed.
