"annotation_definitions" field is missing from cyrus.conf template

I reported this as a bug in Gentoo Bugzilla http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197886

After upgrading Cyrus to 2.3.9-r20 on kolab 2.1, we started experiencing an issue with Outlook clients running the Toltec connector. They would receive errors like this one:

"Unable to set the IMAP4 mailbox ANNOTATION for the folder '_Saved items/EDC'. The IMAP4 error message 'RNT140 NO Permission denied'."

I contacted Toltec and after going back and forth with them a few times by email, sent them my /etc/cyrus.conf file. Here is their last message:

"I cannot see the "annotation_definitions" field. This is needed for Cyrus 2.3.7+ in order to process annotations."

I checked the /etc/kolab/templates/cyrus.conf.template and didn't see the field there either.

Try syncing and re-emerging kolabd, then run kolabconf and restart cyrus.  I couldn't create special folders in horde and it turned out that annotations wasn't defined in /etc/imapd.conf. The issue should be fixed.

It turns out that by not re-merging kolabd earlier, cyrus-imap-admin was mistakenly downgraded to version 2.3.8. I re-merged cyrus-imap-admin-2.3.9 and kolabd and the problem is fixed. Thanks guys.
