Hi!

As mentioned earlier Kolab2/Gentoo has now been declared an official Gentoo project. The project site can be found at

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/kolab/

Yesterday the corresponding overlay on overlays.gentoo.org has been opened up:

http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/kolab

The name of the overlay changed to kolab (without the 2!).

While p@rdus will still provide the old overlay for a while it will not see any changes anymore.

Please run

Code:
layman -d kolab2
layman -a kolab

to update to the newest overlay location.

I'm sorry that the location for bugs will now change again. But the appropriate location for bug reports on an overlay is http://bugs.gentoo.org. I also feel that the bugs actually belong in that bug tracker rather than into the Kolab issue system. Of course I'll carry the current bugs over if I don't see a chance to fix them soon.

Cheers,

Gunnar

Will the pardus forums still continue, or are we supposed to post on the Gentoo forums now?

Thanks,
Jason

No, not at all Smiley

I know I have been experimenting a lot with the resources associated to the project. But I feel that the project success partially depends on using the right tools and support resources. I'm pretty confident that the overlay found its final location now. Thus the bug target http://bugs.gentoo.org should also stay stable from now on. The documentation will also stay embedded in the Kolab wiki.

Concerning this forum I think that this has been a successful installation so far and I will continue to support it. I'm actually not a forum type of person at all and would rather like to stick to a mailing list but if the users feel more at home here I can adapt Smiley

The Gentoo forums would seem a little bit too unspecific for this type of project and I must admit I only remember about the Gentoo forum once every three months and run a search on stuff that I might answer. So you'd have to wait quite a while to get a response.

In general the Gentoo project site at http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/kolab/ will be the main site for this project from now on. This will be your main point of reference to identify the project resources available.

The only thing that I currently still plan to change is the mailing list which I would also like to see being run as gentoo-kolab@gentoo.org. Will probably happen soon.

Cheers,

Gunnar

Horde & Kolab bugs should still be directed towards the kolab project bug tracker and Gentoo Overlay (portage) bugs should be directed to the gentoo bug tracker? Or should all bug reports for people using kolab on gentoo go to the gentoo bug tracker?

As a general rule please post everything to http://bugs.gentoo.org and mark it with [kolab overlay] if you are running Kolab2/Gentoo.

Of course I know some of you are well able to determine if it is a Gentoo, a Horde, or a Kolab specific bug and I'm working with all three bug trackers anyhow. So I'm likely to answer to answer on any of these channels.

Cheers,

Nope, the project is indeed named kolab.

Code:
layman -i kolab
* kolab
* ~~~~~
* Source  : http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/kolab/overlay
* Contact : wrobel@gentoo.org
* Type    : Subversion; Priority: 50
*
* Description:
*   Project to allow running Kolab on Gentoo.
*
* Link:
*
*   http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/kolab/index.xml
*

As described in the man page, layman will only update your local copy of the remote overlay list if you run it with --fetch, --sync, --sync-all or --list. I assume you still have an outdated list.
