how do I automatically expunge deleted messages from cyrus?

I'm noticing that I have an abundance of deleted email in my folders which isn't getting pruned automatically by cyrus. I could tell my email client to expunge on close but do you know how to have cyrus do it for me after a few days?

I do not know of such an option in imapd since calling "expunge" is usually a task the client should do.

The only thing that cyrus imapd offers is something in the other direction: "expunge_mode: delayed" which will not immediately kill the mail even though the client called expunge.

I'm not certain about the intention behind your question but maybe this delayed expunging would also help you to achieve what you want?
