idled support for cyrus-imapd

It looks like cyrus-imapd is using polling for IDLE support, meaning every x seconds it looks for changes then notifies the client.
idled listens for change notifications and alerts cyrus to notify the client in realtime.
1. change cyrus-imapd to the following in /etc/portage/package.use
net-mail/cyrus-imapd kolab ssl idled
2. re-emerge cyrus-imapd
3. uncomment idled in /etc/cyrus.conf
4. add idlesocket: /var/imap/socket/idle to /etc/imapd.conf
5. /etc/init.d/cyrus restart
I tried uploading the templates but get.
An Error Has Occurred!

This sounds interesting to me. Would using idled rather than polling reduce some server load or improve the efficiency of the imapd?
Thanks,
Jason
