Finally the next Kolab server version has been released. This will now provide a first base for stabilizing the Kolab2/Gentoo project.

To give you a rough overview of what is planned:

 - Splitting of the overlay into kolab2 and kolab2-dev
 - Merging all hard masked development packages into the unstable branch
 - Marking the unstable version stable

The anticipated time frame for this are three months so it should be done some time in August. The desired stable release will include a first Horde version that should include all the improvements currently being developed.

Please note that this next phase might not always come with a clean upgrade path. Please direct any requests concerning problems to the forum or the mailing list.

Some notes concerning the final overlay state:

The state of the overlay that p@rdus will try to reach until August will still be a purely experimental Kolab2/Gentoo release. There is also no chance that this stage of the overlay will be moved into Portage and maintained there. The patch situation will still be too complicated for that.

An additional advisory:

Syncing the overlay during the next week is not recommended since the initial rearrangements for the stabilization process might cause some confusion. I'll post a note once the main part is done and you can safely sync again.

Well, it's about two weeks ago when you posted that you'll restructure the overlay during the following week. So you are overdue for about one week. Did you just forget to add a note here that you are done or haven't you finished restructuring yet?
I got some problems and just want to be sure to have an official working version before trying to debug it.  Smiley

No, I'm simply overdue Smiley We are currently busy advancing Horde and most parts of the new framework went into Horde CVS today. So if I'm lucky I can get on with the restructuring this weekend or the beginning of next week. But in any case this means that the Horde packages will get stabilized alongside with the rest of the overlay.
